That Video Game Blog: Still Douche-Bags
A few days ago, That Video Game Blog posted an announcement that EA would be hosting a panel on homophobia and virtual communities by GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation). I posted, praising EA for stepping up to the plate as one of the largest publishers in the industry.

My comment never got posted, but several deriding the panel or the idea that homophobia was an issue in gaming communities managed to get posted.

blogs like that are a waste; they fall in the shadow of kotaku, joystiq and destructoid while doing no actual reporting to distinguish themselves and printing nothing but pre-approved press releases or info scavenged from other blogs (or neogaf).

if i might make some suggestions?

http://www.gamepolitics.com/ and http://www.gamesindustry.biz/ for industry news; http://www.andriasang.com/e/ and http://www.insertcredit.com/ for all things japanese; http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/ for pc coverage and http://tinycartridge.com/ for ds and neat things in general.

linkbomb, i know. but every time you steer someone away from the kotakoids, an angel gets its wings.

GamePolitics is good, though they have a decidedly antifeminist vibe there as well, at least from my experience.

well, to tell you the truth, most days i just headline-skim the industry news sites. :\

did you find it was more in the articles, or the comments? because i let noscript block blog comment sections by default which is the best feature ever.

Yeah, it's largely in the comments section. Since the bloggers tolerate it, I assume they also don't feel it's a big deal. =/

But just for keeping up on the news headlines, it's a good blog.

How can anyone say that homophobia is not an issue in games? Have these people ever played Halo online?
